WELCOME TO MANKOWSKI HOMES!
The Mankowski Homes was founded in the mid-1950s by Winifred Stuart Mankowski, a devoted Christian Scientist who marveled at the selfless service of Christian Science nurses and practitioners throughout her life. She saw them as “contribut(ing) incomparably more to the welfare of their fellows than ever could be returned to them in any form of human assistance.” And yet, she was compelled to try! Mankowski set out to establish a small community of bungalow-cottages for Christian Science practitioners or Christian Science nurses who had completely or partially retired from at least ten years of Christian Science Journal-listed service.
To join The Mankowski Homes community or to receive a Mankowski International Grant, an applicant must be fully independent and willing to contribute happily to a spirit of mutual helpfulness and harmony. As set forth in Mankowski’s will, these fundamental qualities of character are the cornerstones of the community.
The Mankowski Homes consists of thirty-seven bungalow-style cottages thoughtfully arranged on six acres to provide adequate privacy within a close community. The natural setting is lovely and the grounds are well-maintained. Mankowski International offers housing grants for similarly qualified individuals living outside the United States. To date, Mankowski International has awarded grants in nineteen countries around the world.

AMAZED AND GRATEFUL
“The wonderfully low rent at Mankowski Homes is a wonderful gift. The generous living conditions here are beyond all my expectations and beyond anything in my life I had before personally experienced as a home.”
